The short version
We collect the minimum information needed to run the marketplace: your name, email, phone, business details, the listings you post, messages you send through the site, and enough payment information for Stripe to charge your $4.99 listing fee.
We never sell your personal information to anyone. We only share it with service providers who help us run the site (like Stripe for payments), people you deliberately reach out to on the marketplace, and in the rare cases required by law.
You can access, correct, or delete your information anytime by emailing privacy@jonslistai.com.
1.Who We Are & Scope
J’s List AI (“J’s List AI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the online marketplace at jonslistai.com that connects small businesses with independent AI service providers. This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through the website, email, phone, and any related services (together, the “Service”).
This Policy does not cover the privacy practices of service providers you hire through the Service (they are independent businesses with their own policies), or third-party websites we link to. Your use of the Service is also subject to our Terms of Service.
2.Information We Collect
2.1 Information you give us
| Category | Examples | When |
|---|---|---|
| Identity & Contact | Name, email address, phone number, business name, business address, industry | When you register, post a listing, or contact support |
| Listing Content | Description of what you need, budget, timeline, business details, any files or images you upload | When you post a listing |
| Messages | Messages you exchange with other Users through our in-platform messaging, attachments, and any call notes you save | When you communicate on the Service |
| Payment Information | Last four digits of your card, card brand, billing ZIP, Stripe customer ID. We do not see or store your full card number — that goes directly to Stripe. | When you pay the $4.99 listing fee |
| Account Preferences | Notification preferences, industry selections, saved searches | When you configure your account |
| Support & Correspondence | Emails, phone notes, support tickets | When you contact us |
2.2 Information we collect automatically

|---|---|---|
| Device & Log Data | IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, timestamps | Security, fraud prevention, analytics, debugging |
| Cookies & Similar | Session cookies, preference cookies, limited analytics identifiers. See Section 6. | Keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure traffic |
| Location (approximate) | City/region derived from IP address | Detect suspicious sign-ins, regional pricing, tax |
2.3 Information from third parties
We may receive information about you from third parties, such as:
- Stripe — confirms whether a payment succeeded or failed, and provides a tokenized payment identifier.
- Fraud & security tools — may return risk scores based on your IP or device signals.
- Email providers — may share delivery and open signals so we can diagnose delivery issues.
- Referrals — if another User refers you to the Service, we may receive your name and email from them.
2.4 What we don’t collect
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information — such as government ID numbers, precise geolocation, biometric data, information about your health, religion, or political views, or your contacts/photos. Please don’t post this kind of information in listings or messages.
3.How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for these purposes:
- Provide the Service — create and maintain your account, publish and display your listings, route messages, process the $4.99 Listing Fee, send receipts and transactional emails.
- Connect you with Providers — show your listing to relevant Providers and allow Providers to contact you about your listing.
- Safety, trust, and fraud prevention — detect abuse, spam, fake accounts, duplicate payments, and policy violations; enforce our Terms of Service.
- Customer support — answer your questions, investigate disputes, and handle refunds under Section 6 of the Terms.
- Product improvement & analytics — understand how the Service is used in aggregate, diagnose bugs, A/B test changes.
- Communications you chose to receive — relevant updates, tips for writing better listings, or occasional newsletters (only if you opt in; you can opt out any time).
- Legal and compliance — comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, protect our rights and the rights and safety of Users and third parties.
We do not use your content, listings, or messages to train external machine-learning models without your explicit consent.
4.Legal Bases (for EU/UK Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal information on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:
- Contract — to provide the Service you requested (for example, posting a listing, processing your payment, routing messages).
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Service safe and secure, prevent fraud, improve the product, and run basic analytics, in ways we believe you would reasonably expect.
- Consent — for optional marketing emails, optional analytics cookies, or any other processing where we ask for it. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — to comply with tax, accounting, anti-money-laundering, and other legal requirements.
5.How We Share Your Information
5.1 Other Users on the marketplace
When you post a listing, the information you put in the listing is visible to Providers on the Service (and, depending on your settings, to the public web for listings marked public). When you message another User, that User receives the content of your message and your display name. Don’t include anything in a listing or a message that you wouldn’t want that audience to see.
5.2 Service providers
We share information with vendors who help us run the Service, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only for the purposes we specify. Current categories include:
- Payment processing — Stripe, Inc. (to process the $4.99 Listing Fee).
- Hosting & infrastructure — cloud providers that store and serve the Service.
- Email delivery — to send receipts, account notices, and messages you’ve opted into.
- Error monitoring & analytics — to detect bugs and measure aggregate usage.
- Fraud prevention & security — to help us block abuse.
- Professional advisors — lawyers, accountants, auditors, when needed.
A current list of our sub-processors is available on request by emailing privacy@jonslistai.com.
5.3 Legal & safety
We may disclose information when we have a good-faith belief it is necessary to: (a) comply with a law, subpoena, or court order; (b) enforce our Terms; (c) detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, or safety of J’s List AI, our Users, or the public.
5.4 Business transfers
If J’s List AI is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5.5 With your consent
We may share information in any other way you direct or consent to.
5.6 No sale of personal information
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not engage in what California law calls “sharing” your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Section 10 for California-specific disclosures.
6.Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use a minimal number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Strictly necessary — to keep you signed in, secure your session, and remember basic preferences. These cannot be turned off.
- Functional — to remember choices like language or last-used industry filter.
- Analytics — aggregate counts of page visits so we can tell what’s used and what isn’t. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before these are set.
We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or retargeting pixels. If that changes, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
Your browser’s settings let you block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the Service.
7.Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy. In general:
- Account information — while your account is open, and for up to twenty-four (24) months after closure, to handle disputes and legal requirements.
- Listings — while live, plus a reasonable archival period after removal.
- Messages — for up to twenty-four (24) months after the last activity, for trust, safety, and dispute resolution.
- Payment records — as long as required by tax, accounting, and anti-fraud laws (typically seven (7) years in the United States).
- Support emails — up to three (3) years.
- Security & fraud logs — up to two (2) years.
We may keep information longer if required by law or to defend legal claims.
8.Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for sensitive fields, access controls, logging, and tokenized payment processing through Stripe. We don’t store full card numbers on our servers.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and telling us right away if you suspect unauthorized access. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
9.Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your information. We may retain certain records as required by law (for example, payment records for tax purposes).
- Portability — receive your information in a structured, commonly used format.
- Object / restrict — object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing (for example, direct marketing).
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time.
- Complain — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@jonslistai.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (typically 30–45 days). You can authorize an agent to make a request on your behalf, with proof of authorization.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
10.California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA gives you additional rights:
- Right to know — what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories we’ve disclosed or sold (we don’t sell).
- Right to delete — subject to exceptions in the statute.
- Right to correct — inaccurate personal information.
- Right to limit — the use of sensitive personal information to what’s strictly necessary.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of today. If that changes we’ll add a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.
- Right to non-discrimination — we won’t penalize you for exercising these rights.
Categories of personal information we have collected in the past 12 months: identifiers, commercial information (your listings and payment history), internet/network activity (log data), geolocation (coarse), and inferences drawn from the above.
To exercise your California rights, email privacy@jonslistai.com.
11.EU/UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are in the EU, UK, or Switzerland, see Section 4 for our legal bases and Section 9 for your rights. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our representative and/or data protection officer (where legally required) can be reached at privacy@jonslistai.com.
12.International Data Transfers
J’s List AI is based in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or equivalent.
13.Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact privacy@jonslistai.com and we will delete it.
14.Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common standard for interpreting that signal, we do not currently respond to it. We do, however, honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as opt-out requests where applicable law requires.
15.Third-Party Links
The Service may link to third-party websites (including Provider profiles, external documents, and payment pages hosted by Stripe). Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Read their policies before providing information.
16.Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and, for material changes, give you at least thirty (30) days’ advance notice by email or through the Service before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Policy.
17.Contact Us

This Privacy Policy was generated as a drafting template to match the current data practices of J’s List AI (a one-time $4.99 fee per ad posted, Stripe payment processing, email-based contact). It is intended as a starting point and should be reviewed and customized by a licensed attorney in the jurisdictions where J’s List AI operates before going into production. Nothing in this document is legal advice.
